And Paperwork Is Not Limited to South Caroina Teachers!

Oh yes! I had to waste time once sending forms about four or five students over to the main building to be printed so I could hand deliver them to the Main Office to be sent over to District Office. Everything could have been done eletronically. But someone WANTED hard copies. So my ability to plan for approximately 70 students was negatively impacted. And all on a split planning, I must add.

There was also a survey that took 20 minutes to do. My administrator at the time claimed I had not done it (I did it wihtin minuts of having receivedf it), so I had to waste more time. Game people play!

Some more Summer Reading? CSN & Y Books

https://www.theguardian.com/books/2019/jul/25/crosby-stills-nash-young-biography-peter-doggett-review

One more thing on my Kindle to clear, and a few on the shelf. Maybe they can wait! We have seen Crosby, Stills, and Nash, and I saw Crazy Horse and read Nash's autobiography, which I recommend!

Happy 1st Birthday, "Saluda Reflections", from Finishing Line Press!

Hard to believe it's been one year ! Finishing Line Press was fantastic to work with. I would be happy to send them another manuscript in the future!

In this book I talk about some contemporary issues facing the USA. And it looks like I will keep doing it!

If you would like a signed copy or a signed card from me to put inside the book cover, please contact me at aturfa@aol.com.

Thanks!

Painting-Poem Collaboration: Carol Worthington-Levy and Arthur Turfa

https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10158908863144657&id=804179656&notif_t=feedback_reaction_generic_tagged&notif_id=1563245742074097&ref=m_notif

When Carol Worthington-Levy wanted to create some portraits from family photos, I asked if I would contribute a few poems (that is ekphrasis) since I knew most of the people in them. They were like a second family to me.

She graciously consented, and after a successful exhibition or two, now there is a book! I sent a copy to my friend and fellow writer (she also is an artist), Rebecca Justice Chamberlain. In her post she raved about the paintings ( who wouldn't?) but also said some touching things about one o f the poems.

Speaking as a poet, although the same is true for all artistic expressions, I rarely know how people are moved. It is wonderful to hear about it, when it happens. I write poetry because I want to share something with people. It is not all about me.My hope is that there will be some commonalities discovered, that people will find something that has meaning in their own lives. Thanks Rebecca and Carol!

Review of the William F. Buckley biography by Sam Tanenhaus
