Wherever you stand politically, imagine that there ar eno newspapers. We then choose our bread and circuses from a wide variety as the bad guys put it to us!

Posting Soundcloud Recordings of Some Poems Again

Since I can walk up and down the stairs to the desktop, I am posting some of my poem recordings.
Please feel free to check out my Facebook sites for Accents, Gemini, and Saluda Reflections, as well as my other tracks.  some of those tracks are me reading others' poems, or people reading mine, which is quite an honor!

And if you want to obtain a book for yourself, there are links; you likely know the usual vendors.

Should you want to record any poem even one that's already been done, please feel free to do so! and let me know! Thanks and enjoy!

Sydney School Restricts Use of Technology

https://www.smh.com.au/education/major-distraction-school-dumps-ipads-returns-to-paper-textbooks-20190329-p5191r.html

A company comes up with a device, sells it to school districts trying to be up to date, relevant, and all that. Do away with textbooks, and put everything on line.

   Sounds good, doesn't it?

Then most of the students use the device to message each other, surf the Internet for shopping, scores, and movies.

Big surprise! They miss what the teacher said, ask him or her to repeat, and get angry when that doesn't happen all of the time, or when their grades tank.

Add to the mix teachers being prohibited to use social media in the classroom, and in some places, even on their free time.

I am retired now from high school teaching, and can say a bit. I volunteered to introduce such devices into the classroom. Partly, it was to prove that a veteran teacher could be "with it". And I used it a lot. But at times I would not.

Most students cannot handle it. When they get to college, they often find out how much they do not know. Maybe they fail a class, or drop it and have to take it another semester. And if they borrow money....you guess it! Student loan debt!

One of the books I read while recuperating from my hip replacement. There are hundreds of Revolutionary War sites in South Carolina, and many more to be discovered.

Poetry- July/August 2019 Global Anglophone Indian Poems

I have had the honor of having appeared several times in Indian electronic journals. Imagine my surprise and joy at receiving this in the mail yesterday! So far I have enjoyed what I have read.

Tolkien Poem Discovered

J.R.R. Tolkien wrote more than novels and did more than invent languages. What is remarkable to me about this poem is its style. While a Marian poem, it does not offend this Lutheran, and I would not think it would offend anyone. But these days, who knows?

This almost makes me want to take up the pipe again, but I won't. I did two things rather soon after I arrived at Penn State to look more distinguished. I grew a moustache and started smoking a pipe. I still have the moustache!
