The mark of a good book for m is one where I miss the characters after I finish reading. This book has clearly-defined characters, a thorough description of everyday life in Vatican City (yes, there is such a thing), and a solid,, serious theological background: the Shroud of Turin and Pope John Paul II's wish to reunite Roman Catholics and Orthodox before his death.
Here there is a relationship between two brothers, a father and young son, an absent wife, an unconventional justice system, and New Testament scholarship.
This book was worth the read.
